Re-learning Empowerment: Unleashing Mental Wellbeing By Finding Your True Voice

Your voice is more than just a tool for communication; it is deeply intertwined with your mental well-being. Many individuals grapple with the fear of expressing their true voice—standing up for themselves and speaking their truth. This journey of re-learning empowerment and articulating one’s authentic self can seem intangible or even daunting, particularly for those who have experienced trauma. So, how can we embrace our power and cultivate the practice of speaking our truth, recognising the profound impact it has on our mental health?

Whether it’s being told we can’t sing, being shushed when expressing emotions, or having experienced trauma, these early influences lead us to suppress our voices. This suppression not only shapes how we present ourselves to the world but also profoundly influences the life we lead and, crucially, our mental well-being.

The connection between our voice and mental health may seem unconventional. Still, the reality is that without the ability to assert ourselves, vocalise our desires, and stand in our power, creating the life we want becomes a significant challenge. Re-learning empowerment and rediscovering the strength to stand up for ourselves start with reclaiming our voice. In my work with clients, I consistently observe that the inability to connect with our true voice contributes to their emotional pain.

To test the impact of your comfort with your voice on your mental well-being, try this simple exercise:

1: Tune into the self. Take note of how your body feels.
2: Stand with both feet on the ground, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths.
3: Pay attention to how you feel in your body.
4: Inhale deeply and with conviction, and exhale while saying, “Yes, yes, yes.”
5: Repeat this three times.
6: Tune back into your body and self. Reflect on the changes you feel both physically and mentally.

Did you notice any difference? Perhaps you sensed a newfound energy within you. Imagine incorporating this empowering exercise into your daily routine—re-learning empowerment and walking through life with a heightened sense of personal power. 🌟

The ability to tap into this inner strength, especially for those who have experienced trauma, opens doors to continuous growth. There is always another level to explore, another layer of power to unveil. By regularly practising exercises that reconnect us with our voice, we pave the way for a more authentic and empowered existence.

Are you ready to re-learn empowerment, embrace your voice and witness the transformative effects it can have on your life?
