Creativity Changed My Life.
My Journey of Embracing Creativity for Personal Healing and Transformation.
My journey into the world of performing arts began at a very young age. I eagerly embarked on a path that introduced me to the wonders of singing, music, drama, and dance from as early as the age of 5. Little did I know that this early exposure to the arts would set the stage for a profound transformation in my life, as well as in the lives of those I would later have the privilege to work with.
I was born into a world of contrast, and this theme of contrast has followed me throughout my entire life. My mother’s side of the family was deeply rooted in creativity and centred in matters of the heart. My father’s side, on the other hand, was marked by entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering ambition. From a very young age, life was about finding balance between these two opposing forces. It was about discovering equilibrium in two polar parts of my existence.
This theme of contrast isn’t just a part of my personal journey; it’s a theme that I continue to explore in my own life and one that I extend to support my clients as well. The quest for balance between opposing forces is an ongoing journey, one that I’m deeply passionate about. Creativity is the thread that weaves these opposing elements together. It’s the glue that binds the heart’s yearning for expression with the mind’s drive for achievement.
Jazz, in particular, became a medium through which I could bridge these divides. It allowed me to marry the heart’s emotions and the mind’s ambition in a harmonious expression. This process of creative expression and reconciliation of opposites became a guiding principle in my life and my work.
The arts became more than just an escape; they became a vital channel for self-discovery and healing. My journey continued to unfold as I felt a deep-seated calling to share the transformative benefits I had experienced. It was during this pivotal moment that I made a decision that would forever change the course of my life: I started studying the therapeutic benefits of art and creative expression. This journey deepened my exploration of the positive influence of creativity on mental health.
“Creativity is the power to connect the seemingly unconnected.”
β William Plomer
Combining my passion for creative arts and expression with my skills as a holistic counsellor and coach was one of the most impactful decisions I’ve ever made. It not only improved my well-being but also provided me with a potent tool to assist others on their journeys to healing and self-discovery.
The journey from a young enthusiast of the arts to a holistic counsellor and coach has been a remarkable one. It underscores the incredible influence of creativity on mental health and the profound impact it can have on individuals seeking personal growth and healing.
“Creativity is the bridge that unites the heart’s emotions with the mind’s ambition, guiding us on a journey of healing, self-discovery, and transformation.”
Madelaine Vallin
Today, my Expressive Arts (HEArtsΒ² Practitioner) course stands as a testament to the years of dedication and passion I’ve poured into this field. It represents the culmination of my personal and professional experiences and underscores the power of creativity in supporting mental well-being.
Sometimes the path to healing and self-improvement can be found in the most unexpected places. Through my journey, I discovered my inner strength, a deep connection to the expressive arts, and a mission to help others find their own path to well-being. My story is a testament to the healing potential that resides within each of us, waiting to be unlocked through the transformative power of creativity and the harmonious reconciliation of opposites.
